Professional Experience

As a Special Inspector in New York City, I provide specialized exam results on various construction types and materials, including granular materials like soils, grout, and concrete, as well as special types such as lightweight concrete, slurry, and cellular fill. My responsibilities include testing, sampling, and analyzing construction materials while ensuring compliance with codes and standards from the American Concrete Institute. I also issue inspection notices on results, errors, specifications, and detailed analytics.

One of my most challenging inspections was at the New Jersey Portal North Bridge Project, where cellular fill concrete was used for a retaining wall in a swampy area. Despite passing tests, I identified potential issues with the concrete’s vulnerability to shifting and cracking due to environmental conditions. By collaborating with geotechnical experts, I ensured that the foundation was properly prepared, preventing future problems.

Technical Skills

I regularly use tools like AutoCAD, Procore, ALIMS, Projectware, and Site Manager to access detailed drawings, specifications, and designs. These resources enable me to deliver accurate and precise testing results for various construction materials and projects.

Career Aspirations

Looking ahead, I see my career evolving toward either working in an engineering laboratory or becoming a licensed civil engineer. My immediate goal is to earn my Professional Engineering License, which will pave the way for realizing my dream of leading my own development projects.

Personal Projects

In my spare time, I’m working on a concept design for an off-grid, green-tech, self-sustaining six-story dwelling with a built-in greenhouse, park, and mall using Revit. Although the project is still in progress due to the current technological limitations, I am working on modeling a custom automation system to create a fully functional indoor park and greenhouse. This project allows me to apply my problem-solving skills and creativity in sustainable building design.
